Yeah, I know. I'm from Irish stock. It's just simpler sometimes to refer to the best-known versions.

Although I wouldn't say that "Cocaine" by Eric Clapton is bad, I would say that J.J. Cale's version is much better!

The same holds true for "I Shot The Sheriff".

Also, the many hideous rock versions of old blues tunes. Like "Gallows Pole" by Led Zeppelin originated by Leadbelly.

Hey, I like the Zep one! I like the Nirvana one too, fwiw. All together now: not better, but...

There's also the historical feel to it. If Leadbelly commited a crime back then, he may of had to of faced the gallows pole.

^ Agreed; I'm definitely not saying they're better, and I usually recoil when people mess with old blues stuff, but in the hands of the masters it can work. Kurt's "Where Did You Sleep" is gut-wrenching.
