Song on Gear Wars 2 Commercial

WTF the commercial for Gear Wars 2 is freaking awesome.

What's the song?

The song is "How it Ends" by one of my favorite new(ish) bands called Devotchka. They are a sort of pastiche of Spanish, Balkan and various other ethnic musical traditions. I know that sounds like silly NPR music but they are very,very good.


I don't really play video games but the commercial definitely made me want to play this one.

Great commercial, not something you would expect from a mindless blood and guts game.

And in the vein of the first Gears of War commercial, its complete false advertising as the final game lacks any sense of maturity and emotion.

Same here, and I really did not like the first one very much. I thought the AI was dumb, the characters were annoying(especially Cole Train), and the story was horrible. You were part of Alpha Squad, and you had to deliver The Resonator in the middle of the earth to save humanity!

I will probably buy Gears 2 though. Just from seeing the commercial you get the feeling that everyone expects to die. Final moment of solitude under the tree, final look out the window, silent nod before you open to door to the battlefield, it's great.

I agree. I remember thinking that commercial was awesome when the first one came out.

Mad World was a perfect song selection there.

That commercial brought me to the verge of tears. Too bad I hate GoW. Online doesn't have anything without the ability to party. I have not and will not pick it up... hopefully.
