    I love you

No seriously, this isn't New York and for the most part...people are really cool here. I wouldn't expect anyone to carry a knife or gun. Call me naive if you will. No my wife didn't expect me to get in a fight and she probably stopped one by suggesting we leave. He crossed the line when he said "You liked it". How about an apology? Sure, it's a drunken college town and yes one might expect this to happen...but one should be held accountable for his actions.

Let me get this straight, you went out to a bar... in Athens, a notorious college partytown... and a hell of a meatmarket... after a big game... and you threw a guy into the bar because he grabbed your admittedly drama queen wife's ass? If you and your wife are that sensitive then you probably dont need to put yourself in those kinds of environments. I'm not condoning guys molesting your wife or any women, but ass grabbing in those situations is something that happens in college town bars. Guys grab girls asses. Girls grab guys asses. Everyone dances and does another shot. At least those were the kind of college bars I used to hang out in when going to visit friends in Athens. Maybe you were in some grown up bar where more civilized behaviour would be expected, but if dudes were drinking PBR and watchin the game then it doesnt sound like it to me. K
The fact that his wife is a drama queen does not warrant her get her ass grabbed against her wishes. Saying shit is one thing, guys doing it to flirt with girls they know or who are obviously single is one thing, laying your hand on another man's wife like that is another thing entirely. That stuff might go on regularly, but so does people getting their ass kicked for touching the wrong guy's girl. I agree that it's more likely to occur in that environment and if he doesn't want to take the risk at all he should put him and his wife in that position, but that doesn't mean that he should let it pass without any consequences. If a guy's going to get drunk and grope a woman he doesn't know, he does so at his own risk.

After we declined to buy, a teenager, selling candy bars for his basketball team, asked my wife if he could eat that. She asked, eat what. He said "dat strawberry shortcake".

    Those were his last words...

that I remember hearing before departing the area with haste.

As long as the perp had a chance to apologize you were more than justified.
Good work and more power to you.

I would agree in most situations, but we dont know which bar these guys were in. Much of Athens can be a total meat market and if you want to hang out in these joints, you need to know that it comes with the territory. I dont know how old the OP or his wife is, but if they look young, then dudes might not even think to look for wedding rings in some bars. And sometimes it's not like anyone cares. I've been up for game days and been post partying and had married & single women grab my ass / crotch / lay a kiss on me. Its not even that they are always hitting on you, it just a rambunctious atmosphere.

My point about her being a drama queen is that combined with alcohol (and the OP said that he also had a few beers in him), there is every possibility that the situation was perceived the wrong way / communicated in an exaggerated manner / overdramatized. Of course you have to back up your wife, but keeping in mind that this sort of activity is par for the course, you've been drinking, your wife is a bit of a drama queen, etc, etc...

You were in Athens, right? I spent enough time there to know that, if you or your wife told one of the bouncers about what happened, that kid probably would've been bounced out in a NY minute. As you said--and I agree--the bartenders and bouncers are, for the most part, pretty cool people in that neck of the woods. Drunken assholes are never good for business, and the bouncers wouldn't hesitate tossing them out or banning the asses from the bar.

Ohh, and I'm not saying that he shouldnt have said anything to him, any one of us would have. And an apology should have been in order, but this

... That really ticks me off and so I go into angry husband mode and start versing him on how he should learn to respect women. He tries to walk away and I grab his shoulder, he cusses me out and I throw him down in the bar...classy right?

sounds more like the OP felt like the guy wasnt giving him enough respect, turning away, cussing at him, and thats why he got physical.

In Pakistan his wife would be home cooking dinner not hanging out in the bar drinking after the game.

So my wife and I and several of her friends went out after the Ga/Tn game in Athens Sat. I'm watching the Fl/LSU game in another part of the bar when my wife comes up to me. She can be a drama queen sometimes but she tells me that some guy just grabbed her ass. Now I was ready to blow this off but she tells me it wasn't a tap but an actual grab and squeeze. Not only that, she confronted him and he says "You liked it." That was the final straw.

I'm not normally a confrontational person but things like this really get me going (that and I've had a few beers to boot). I go up to him and he starts playing dumb like what are you talking about...who?...etc. Then I say "her"-referring to my wife behind me and quirks this little smile. That really ticks me off and so I go into angry husband mode and start versing him on how he should learn to respect women. He tries to walk away and I grab his shoulder, he cusses me out and I throw him down in the bar...classy right? So he gets up and starts like shaking his PBR at me like a drunken fool. A few final words and my wife forces me to leave the bar.

I got some points with the wife but I wasn't really proud of my actions.

How would you have handled the situation?

i would have gotten really angry as well. i wouldnt stand for that crap if anyone pulled it on my wife.
