Solid Navy tie, a must have?

I can understand a solid black tie being a must have for some occasions but are there also any occasions that demand only a solid navy tie to be worn?

I realize a solid navy tie looks elegant and has a classic appeal but I am curious to know if there are any gentlemen on this forum who haven't worn it in a long time and their reasons to not wear it?

I feel like Burgundy and Navy are must haves. I find very few occasions to wear a black tie.

I have two solid blue ties. A knit which gets worn several times a year. A solid blue wool-silk which gets worn once every two years.

I believe I also have 2 solid blue ties.
Knit and I forget the material of the other.

They get worn more so with my light grey suits.

A solid blue knit or grenadine looks great with almost any non-blue jacket when worn with a patterned shirt.

No situation demands a navy tie. They’re essential because they can be worn with almost anything—great to keep in your drawer at the office in case you need to slip on a tie without notice. Also very useful when traveling.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
