Sole of shoe worn out after 20min walk...what went wrong? (pics inside)

Sadly, I never wore leather sole shoes before and I finally got a pair of AE Chester and wore it out for 20min on the street today. When I got home, I found the tip of the sole of each shoe being worn out already. I doubt this is supposed to happen, so I'm wondering what went wrong? My shoe don't fit? My walking posture is wrong? Hopefully you guys know the answer coz I'm quite lost.

What should I do now to prevent further damage?

My shoes wear like this as well, it doesn't have to do with fit as much as the way you walk. I get metal taps put on all of my shoes. Problem solved.

Cease wearing them immediately!!!!!

Don't worry, you're normal . . . well your shoes are anyway.

Seriously, what sort of wear were you expecting? Looks like you're a toe-striker, as you have about 3% more wear to the toe than the average person would likely have. I'm a heel striker myself, the edges of my heels are the first place to wear out; that and the fact that I'm a mouth breather are my crosses to bear.

It's probably a combination of the way you walk, the surface you walked on, and the fit.

Take them to your cobbler and get some toe taps...

Happens to me too. I don't bother with taps -- just chalk it up to normal wear.

Oh really this happens to you guys as well? I have looked at a few old shoe sole pictures and they don't have the tip grinded like mind?

Do you guys put polish to cover it up? Because as you can see in the first picture, it is quite noticeable. I guess it'll be difficult for people to see but if I wear it a bit more, I would assume it'll grind up high enough and people will see it. I would actually hear the grinding of it when I walked but didn't know what was going on until I got home.

I supposed taps will help thanks for the suggestions but I also read that it shouldn't be added until probably half to a year after the shoes are worn.

Taps can be added at any time.

I don't use taps normally, but I bought a pair of shoes on ebay which already had them installed. They do exactly as they are supposed to. There is no wear on the toe.

Then again, there are little nail holes on the toe instead.

In my experience, the toes wear down quickly at first (like yours did), but stop after a couple wearings and stay pretty stable. But if you want taps, why would you not put them on right away?

Do you drag or scuff your toes when you walk? If the wear is on the tip of the sole, as it seems to be, that says that you do. If, as others have suggested, it is on the sole itself, that seems more like the dressing wearing off, which is completely normal.

From what I read awhile ago, it suggested adding taps a year after normal wear so that the shoes can adjust to the wearer or something like that. I guess I was just shocked to see my first real shoes being grinded so bad after 20min walk. Thanks to everyone here to reassure me I'm happy again lol

But I'm still wondering whether polish needs to be added there to cover that toe part up? But now that I think about it, would it rub the polish into the floor?

It's more conspicuous at first because there's less wear to the rest of the sole. Give 'em a few more wears and the rest of the sole will catch up, more or less.

Most people use "edge dressing," yes.

You do look like you've been kicking your toes. However if you are sure you have not then please know that it is very normal for the toe end of soles to wear very quickly on the first few wearings and then when the leather sole is shaped to your gait it stops wearing and will last you a good long time. This is why some advice here is saying it is normal.
