Soft Solid-Color T-Shirts for a guy with an average height/build?

I've gone through american apparel, martin & osa, and lands-end solid basic t-shirts and none have really fit me the way I would like. I find that the american apparel shirts (size L) are too tight in the chest and too long in the body (I do like the material though). The M&O and land-end shirts (size M) have decent fits length wise, but have sleeves that are too wide and short. I did like the fact that these shirts had sturdy collars that didn't seem like they were prone too stretch.

I have the average american male build at 5'9 and 180 pounds (slightly more athletic since I lift weights and do martial arts), so I figure most companies would have shirts that are targeted towards my build.

Lately, I've been noticing shirts being cut longer and tighter than before. Are there any brands that make their shirts from 25-27 inches long and about 20-22 inches wide? I've noticed alot of the softer shirts contain a poly/cotton blend - any idea where I can get shirts that have this combination?

I have the same problem with american apparel and find that H&M grey label v-neck or crewneck tees fit me perfectly. Club Monaco also fits me great but they're a lot more expensive.. (pick 'em up on sale if you can)

They don't have the *gasp* hipster factor of AA or H&M but Gap t shirts sound like a good fit for you. They aren't overly long or slim and everytime I am there they have a ton different of colors. Seem garment dyed to me but I am hardly an expert.

They are like 12 bucks each.

Downside is they are thinner. One of mine has holes after about 6 months.

No, not much at all. They're definitely long.

Well I'm 5'8" and 170 lBs, so I kind of in the same boat. Length is problematic because I haven't found a way to get t-shirt hems tailored inexpensively around here.

The only t-shirts that fit me well length-wise are Michael J Krell (affiliate and poster here) and Solis Company house brand. On sale you can get the Solis shirts for like $6.00, but they hardly come in a wide variety of colors.

At one point, Target's Merona stretch t-shirts had a great length, but they too seem to have succumbed to hem creep.

Good call.

My vote in the above thread was for Gap stretch slim-fit tees. I stand by that recommendation.
