The estimate on this one is slightly north of $2000, then there's a buyer's commission of around 20% on top of that. It's going on auction where I work in early October, the 9th I think. I would guess that proper transport and insurance to the US would double the price, roughly. I'll look into it, but this is the day off for the lady here who does the export/transport stuff, so I'll have to get back to you on that. I have to admit, though, that this one isn't particuarly well-made, although it's stunning in terms of style. Very Ruhlmannesque. If anyone here are seriously considering bidding on it, I insist on supplying additional photos of the innards of the sofa, etc., - I wouldn't want to sell anything disappointing.

Lucky Strike, thanks for the info. I will keep watching the links you sent me. I'll probably start by looking for something not quite as massive as a sofa, but the Ruhlmann qualities caught my eye. By the way, saw a good book on all Ruhlmann's work the other day, complete drawings and studies -nice!

Since we're now moving into the 5k range, I think I'll try Faustian and NR's suggestions and buy the little Eames toy for $575

Almost! Acutally, it's what the thread title made me think of: the Cauchy (pronounced couchey) Equation. It's only a sort-of correct experimental realtionship between index of refraction and wavelength. Cauchy did much more amazing stuff in calculus and power series that I use daily, but they named this relatively dumb one after him.

It's nice...very nice. Though I don't like that red colour so much. The beige and white versions in the smaller pictures look nicer, but I guess it depends on the interior you will place it in.

Would you purchase one of two? I like the look in the top picture with the single sofa and end table.

Yes, I'll go for a light colour, either beige or light grey. And it will be only one piece.
I don't have the space (12 ft!) for a double.

It's a very comfortable sofa. And I like the idea of putting a pillow at the end and using it as a daybed.
I need to see the end table "in real". I don't like it that much from the picture, but the hollow transparent plexiglass base is an interesting option, especially in lighting.

Anyone familiar with LOVE Editions by Jerome Faillant-Dumas? They provide the furniture in the current Arnys catalog, which is very beautiful although I suspect incredibly expesnive...

Are they LOVE in the YSL sense? Or as Medea via Lars von Trier said, "Love is the greatest sorrow".
