I feel as though there is a hole in the market for socks. I am able to find very conservative OTC socks in wool. If I want something more creative (stripe; two-tone; argyle; colors other than black, gray, or blue) I have to resort to crew length or cotton. If someone knows of a company I am missing let me know. Otherwise I am going to start my own line.

They have a much better selection than a few months ago. Thank you for the link. I should mention that another factor prevents any of the options on there I have seen. I wear a 14 US shoe. Also, why is everything made in cotton? At this price point I would expect the best materials to be used. Isn't wool ideal to cotton in every situation except the laundry?

I think the less conservative patterns are only made in cotton because they are considered more casual and cotton is a casual fabric.

Pure speculation - it might also be easier/less expensive to dye the cotton after it's been woven.

Every so often Marshalls/TJ Maxx have Pantherella. But it is not common. I have maybe 4-5 pairs but none is as gorgeous pair, just utilitarian and inexpensive...

I also prefer wool socks and wear a 14 US shoe and agree that there aren't a whole lot of less conservative socks out there. Sierra Trading Post often has some that would fit but they're usually pretty plain. They do have some Smartwool XL argyle socks right now, but they're not OTC. I may get some as OTCs seem to slip down just as much as crew length socks anyways.

But seriously, you can find here on the B&S forum, over at STP, discounters etc decent socks. And unfortunately my experience has been that higher price=/=better holding power

Are Nagrani OTC? I thought they were shorter.

J Press don't have any fancy socks in OTC.

Nagrani's from my knowledge they are semi over the calf.
they dont go totally over the calf but maybe 3/4 way up.
but they stay up there all day. and they dont leave alot of stress marks all over your leg when you take them off like other socks.

Are Nagranis available in sizes other than "one size fits most"? I'd be suprised if size 14 feet are included under "most".
