Socks with seersucker?

I'm attending a wedding in Palm Springs this Saturday, and I've decided to rock my new seersucker suit - It's a Haspel from STP. I'm wearing it with a plain white dress shirt, a light pink tie with small light-blue designs (pigs, actually), and medium brown CT/Loake semi-brogues. The only thing I can't decide on is socks. I wanted to wear "fun" socks, given the summery and somewhat whimsical look of my outfit, so I bought the following two pairs yesterday:



The pink one is slightly brighter in real life.

Which pair should I go with, or am I going to look like an idiot either way?

I think the pink would be fun. I wear seersucker so I may not be the best judge, but if you ought not look like an idiot either way.

I have a pair of light blue and tan argyle socks I wear with mine. You are definitely on the right track with the color selection. You're going to get a lot of looks anyway, might as well live it up.

yeah, but it's at palm springs. i would expect to see a lot of casual dress.

more information is probably needed - what is the dress code and is the location indoor or outdoor? if it is outdoor, i wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of khaki and such.

The wedding is outdoors in the late afternoon. The dress code per the invitation was "Desert Formal (suit with no tie)". I'm not going to follow their directions exactly (I don't like the look of a suit w/o a tie), but I thought seersucker would be keeping in the spirit of the event, while still expressing a little personality.

I've said it about brown shoes I'll say it about seersucker if just that little bit distracts from the wedding it deserves to be distracted from.

But at what point do you draw the line? I saw a guy in a zoot suit and huge hat at the most recent wedding I attended. It was costume, and it certainly distracted from the tone of the event itself. Maybe the bride should have worn rhinestones, but I don't think it's her responsibility to worry about showing up her more theatrical guests.

That said, my original post in this thread wasn't even about the seersucker itself. I was just urging a bit of restraint.

Maybe that's just his style like Johnny Depp? But, I do draw the line at wearing white especially females/

Maybe it is, but my point is that, for the one day, it didn't need to be about him. That's my definition of courtesy.

I guess I don't see a tasteful seersucker suit as "costumey" or out of place, particluarly at an outdoor wedding where it's going to be 90 degrees.

I believe Doc Holliday's point wasn't so much about the seersucker, but more about my comment that the poster is going to get looks and should go all out.
I happen to think Doc Holliday is correct and would moderate my previous statement if it mattered at all.
