More and more I like mid calf. Besides the fact that I have a hyper developed calf I am getting tired of the stocking like feeling. I like a mid calf model that hugs the lower part of the calf rather than the ones that trend closer to the ankle. I should add that some makes, like pantherella, do a good job with a natural feel with an over the calf sock but i am losing my humor with other makes. It's quite hard to find good otc socks too.

Although I appreciate the concept of fully covering your calf, I have never been able to get comfortable in over-the-calf socks. I'm for mid-calf.

OVC for me. I have developed calves which fails to match the contour of most mid-calf socks. With OVC, I can stetch them over comfortably. Also I find the OVC provides a little more support when standing for long periods of time (e.g., industry presentations, trade shows etc).

I'm fine with both, but I find myself reaching for the over the calfsies for "special occasions" or important nights, I dunno why. Seems a bit more formal.

I'm coming around to mid because my calves jut outwards a bit and OTCs sometimes catch my pants legs. Also cooler in the summer.

Over-the-calf is my usual choice.

If the weather is hot, I'll go with mid-calfs.

I've yet to find mid-calf socks that don't slip. OTC.

Jumped on OTCs soon after joining SF, but I started to learn that with slimmer-fitting pants -- particularly flannels -- they snag on the pant leg when you stand up. That gets annoying. It's been mid-calf ever since.
