1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Couldn't give less of a shit about Olympic football to be honest. They feel like friendlies, it's like there's no stakes at all

Sadly, this is the truth. Unlike basketball or tennis, football in the Olympics is never taken seriously.

It was until it became all seated.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hampden_Park

Hampden was the biggest stadium in the world when it was opened, with a capacity in excess of 100,000. This was increased further between 1927 and 1937, reaching a peak of 150,000. The record attendance of 149,415, for a Scotland v England match in 1937, is the European record for an international football match. Tighter safety regulations meant that the capacity was reduced to 81,000 in 1977. The stadium has been fully renovated since then, with the most recent work being completed in 1999.

But in the 30s people would often pass out from being too tightly packed in and be passed down to the front over the fans heads.

BBC News have just said Archery at Lords is the only sporting event on today, but some are still at training camps abroad and the BOA have said athletes competing within the next 72 hours might want to think twice about staying up past midnight for the opening ceremony.

it's from blog, but i am going to the friendly tonight (and i was riding the subway yesterday!). good to see burdisso back in shape. osvaldo looks professorial....

10 years ago they were here to play r. madrid (in old meadowlands) and i happened on their hotel as the team was coming out for a trip to the u.n. - everyone was in suits - no totti, but battistuta, montella, samuel, emerson, candela, tomassi, cassano, etc. :nodding:

    That's awesome, romafan.

I'm planning on staking out the strip when RM show up, given that I still probably won't be able to afford decent seats at the friendly here.
