Spurs fell apart right when Harry was being courted for the England job. It fucked their season up.

Yep. Fucking shame. Whenever scandal hits spurs, form drops bad. At some times it was practically comical. Modric will be long gone. I expect so will Bale. All I see is £££££££ in our future lol

I am fine with the game as-is, but I don't object to the golden goal as an alternative. Why was that dropped?

Blatter would never have brought this up if Bayern had won the penalty shootout.

No he wouldn't but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be changed.

According to Wiki it was because the timing of the goal within the 30 mins extra time was important and also that if the wind blew in one direction it could favour one team and it stopped attacking play because they wanted to not concede more than they wanted to score (which is why play till you score should work - someone has to score). Maybe take off a player every few minutes instead of allowing subs, more space means more attacking play and more chances of a goal.

Nationalism keeps people from enjoying the well played game. Would much prefer to watch the current German side rather than say Italy.

well, it's the history between the both nations. unfortunately austria couldn't keep up with the glory of the past for one reason or another and the germans have nothing bout mockery for that. although we helped them in the WC 1982 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Germany_1–0_Austria_(1982_FIFA_World_Cup)

can you name one player who stands out from their side?

Fritzl wanting Germany to win is like you Yanks wanting Mexico, Cuba or Canada to win.

Actually when the USA are playing Mexico , nearly a third of the US population is supporting the latter.
