I'm thinking more of Ozil ...
Kaka isn't a starter.
Modric generally plays in a more recessed role than Ozil.
Kaka does not start. RM is paying 40m for Modric to replace someone on the bench?
Possibly, but what an appalling decision that would be. Drop Khedira? That doesn't make sense either. Will they be fielding 12 players next year?
There is no room for Modric on this team except as the world's most expensive supersub. Why would Modric choose that fate over PSG, which will let him start? There was a chance for him to go to Chelsea where he would start, but that has passed due to evident CFC acquisition of Oscar.
Purple looks good, but pink looks horrible.
Shame about Van Persie leaving the Prem tho
65 mio for Ibra & Silva.. not the best bang for buck, imo. But they've got enough cash now -- chief executive of the Qatar fond owns the 8th largest yacht in the world which supposedly cost something like 1-1.5 billion $ (wiki).
He is the new Abramovich..
Yeah, but from what I understand it's a fund while Abramovich just does it solely for the sake of fun.
well it is better than being owned by Americans apparently
It is Roman's real live Xbox. But who can blame him. Once you are as rich as he is, you could blow through $10 billion or so, and you and your heirs for generations would still have more money than can be spent in a lifetime.
Well, one 150 meter yacht à la Qatar-guy and he would be broke.
Abramovich's 557ft yacht cost $1bn and has a missile defense system, laser shield, helicopters...
ther's only one place in the world that it can dock but he was beaten to the parking spot but a saudi prince who has a 265ft long one
Yeah, just looked it up. So why does the 133m one of the Qatar guy cost (estimated according to wiki) 1-1.5bn? Solid platinum floors?
Anyway, back on topic.. Valencia had to let go even more top players.
I hope they'll withstand it as well as they withstood the leavings of Villa, Silva, Mata & co.
I would bet that Banega would be gone this year, if not for his huge injury that kept him out towards the end of last term.
On the contrary, towards the hind end of last season Mou's favored lineup was Benzema up top, Ronaldo out left, Kaká in the center and Özil on the right wing. Alonso and Khedira behind them. Di María through injury was really reduced to sub cameos, and then traded time w/ José Callejón (who Liverpool are apparently looking at, and may very well fit in w/ a Rodgers' offense.)
Alonso had a great Euro. He is one of Mourinho's few "undroppables" - inasmuch as Mourinho has said so, and the fact that whenever he was subbed off last year, RM's attack fell apart. Xabi Alonso is their metronome. When teams found ways to smother him, RM stuttered - ala the CL Semi's against Bayern.
Reading a few things, Khedira is wanting to take on a more advanced attacking role - and who can blame him after a great showing at the Euro. I would think that they'll move Şahin or Kaká on (Granero too has been touted to Liverpool) and take Modric exactly as the supersub for an aging Alonso. Towards the end of the last campaign he looked ragged - played in every single game (or close to it) of the entire season; Liga, Copa, and CL. Having someone of his comparable skill set will mean decent transition. Modric, however, is not as defensively sound as Alonso.
RM's also looking at keeping Lassana Diarra - a player I've personally always fancied because of his huge defensive workrate and the big tackles he makes - but converting him to a right back and giving Arbeloa some competition, thereby Keeping Ramos at CB.
They're just a stacked team with a lot of options. But if Khedira wants to start playing a CAM sort of role, they'll need a hardman.
