This is exactly what he did. Very classy of him indeed. Per the Washington Post:

I was reading some more of the hullabaloo over the Suarez incident. Here's what I think - if he was speaking in Spanish and wasn't thinking about the connotations that the term "negro" or "negrito" or whatever it was he said carries in English, then I think the ban is ludicrous. Suarez has been in England what? A year? An eight-match ban is a pretty stiff lesson in linguistics.

If he was just being an asshole, then I don't really care. Let him have his ban. I have to wonder though, if it were, say, a white American player and Suarez called him the equivalent of "fucking Gringo" - would anyone care?

Well, that's if you believe his version over Evra's version. I watched the match at the time and remember Evra's response to what he was saying and his eyes just bulged out, it seemed to be something quite significant. The unseen footage at the hearing also showed that Suarez pinched Evra's arm during the exchanges. Perhaps the truth is somewhere in between, but I can't believe that Suarez is the 'who me?' all innocent victim here. People talk about his world cup handball, to me that was just being a professional footballer and I have no problem with that, but biting an opponent? Hardly an angel is he? Dalglish is a fool for taking him at his word.

No of course not, its not possible to be racist against whites and if a series of events involves a black person being called a nigger or some other racist word then anything they do is excused. Also if they say something anti-white then anything they do becomes acceptable as the white person is racist for being there.

As for the first bit, if I speak French to someone in England and I say a word which is pronounced nigger in French but actually means something completely non-offensive, am I being racist?

Usually when somebody is proven to have lied about something in the past it takes a bit more than just their word to believe them the second time.

Ah, presumably you're referring the misinformation that Evra said that the Chelsea groundsmen gave him racist abuse, when it has been said time and again that it was Mike Phelan? The same sort of drip feed misinformation that LFC have been releasing to the press, such as Kuyt reporting that Evra had said to the ref that he was only booking him because he was black, which never happened - according to the ref.

Apparently Ronaldo has come down w/ Dengue fever. Just what Brazil needs while building up to a WC.

And they can most likely recall him from the loan if they need him.

Where is the evidence that it was Mike Phelan? Whoever said it they are a vile club and I have very little sympathy for them.
