What's the difference between a Crispaire and a Fresco?

I thought it was similar to the difference between an escalator and moving stairs.

There is a difference. I'm not sure I can explain it, but the frescos in that book are (like all frescos) a rougher and more open weave. Crispaire seems to be H&S's version of tropical worsted. It has a finer finish, and the weave is not so open.

This is based on observation of the swatches, I don't own either. I could be wrong.

I think a navy suit in a 36s would be great. Delivered to my exacting measurements to my house. Think that would suit you just fine!!

I don't think it is fair to say that the Crispaires are like a tropical worsted. They are a bit more refined than most frescos, but they are still pretty rough and their high-twist nature is very much in evidence. They are also porous and breezy, but, as you correctly noted, not as open as classic frescos. A better description would be to say they are a more refined fresco that sacrifices a little bit of openeness for a little bit smoother hand. Also, I believe the Crispaire books have both all-wool and wool/mohair blends and there are a couple of different weights. But that has nothing to do with what I posted about above. I am a big fan of the Crispaire line and like the performance very much. The colors and patterns are limited, but I will look there first when thinking about a SB summer suit.

Air force or petrol blue as a lighter alternative to your navy?
