So, hows the NY Barney's warehouse sale doing?

Just was there. Looked around. It blew. Suits are down 25% (red tags down 40%). Looks like some new stock out on the racks but not worth a visit. Shirts are still at 30% off. Shoes are pathetic. Not sure when the crazy pricing is going to hit. Anybody else that has more experience with the sale have an idea? Last day only?

I'm planning on heading there Saturday or Sunday (hoping they'll have better discounts then). I'm looking to purchase a suit and looking to spend around 300. Anyone have any recommendations on what brands I should look for?

I only looked at 38R/40R and you don't have much choice. Hugo Boss, Burberry, Michael Kors, Hickey Freeman, Hickey and lots of house brand. A few Canali in challenging fabrics and one killer Battistoni - but even discounted they will be out of your range. For my money (and I'm no expert) you'd do better on the mainline stuff at any discounter/outlet mall (unless prices drop dramatically between now and the weekend) leaving the only suits of interest the Barney's house brand. I tried on one nice lightweight two button that fit a little looser than an RLBL, nice cut, nice feel to it but at $360 it seemed to be pushing it on price. If they come down a bit more I'd say go for it, conservative fabrics, nice looking suits.

Looked through this morning.

I am in the same size range as gbrown above. Discounts in suits were either 25% or 40% of the ticket depending on the color. So a 1200 retail suit marked down to 600 was now 450, except for those that were 360.

Little of interest in suits. Most shirts were the Barneys house label. There were ties if you need ties.

The strongest note in the shoe selection was the models by Bettanin & Venturini, who can make a chisel toe as bold as it is ugly. There was a pair or two of Lidfort and Crockett & Jones in my size.

Didn't investigate the designer sportswear.

If I get back on the last day, I might get a few accessories, but that's it.

Overall, you'll do better on ebay or in the B&S forum here.

The SA from my local Barney's Outlet told me they shipped all their 75% off stuff to the warehouse sale. The Hugos were going for $250, burberry $280, house brand $200 - are these the prices at the warehouse sale?

If anyone is a 46R, there a couple of really nice Gucci suits in the 48R section for $300. They are 48R but run a size small.

In 48R there are about 3-4 Isaia suits marked down to $600.

I get such good deals at the Barneys Outlet, this makes me feel like the Warehouse sale is useless. Which it probably is if I live 15 minutes away from the outlet.

I haven't looked at 38s since I was 12- so I wasn't even near the section. But seriously, if there are Gucci's in that size, they will be $300. You should also look at the 40R since they run small.

Don't bother, it's all Burberry, old Barney in house..nothing really worthwhile.....

Check the Manhattan Sales Alert thread, the best place for this stuff. They took further discounts yesterday at lunch time. I think it's the bottom for some of the items (suits, sportcoats)
