When did you get yours, Stan? I assume you're a small since we are of the same height. TBS is always out of smaller sizes.

I paid for mine at retail last year and it was $310 or so.

I'm trying to find places to buy outside of CA to avoid taxes.

Stark in medium and Amalgam in small for almost $50 less than Frances May:

Wearing the Amalgam right now, and i can say that it is without a doubt my favorite piece from SNS Herning. A bit more understated than the Stark, but more versatile IMO.

FM is really spendy and rarely does sales but will occasionally do 20% off anything in the store

How's the service? I tried to order from them before only to get an email a week later saying that the item I wanted was out of stock.

That's what happens when you order Eu-made knits from a US shop. Some of the Scotland/Ireland knits are 1.5-2x the price at US shops.

This is the e-mail I received for advice on washing instructions. We aren't supposed to wash these at all unless it's real bad.

What is "cold wool programe"? Is it a special setting only on Danish and Euro washers? Hand wash cold is the way to go if you don't have this setting? :eh:

Fok had the best advice, delicates bag is good idea and I recommend you hold the spin cycle if your machine has that option otherwise just take it out before spin and lay flat.

Many newer washers, or euro/asian market washers (Miele, LG, etc) have had a wool setting for some years.

There's nothing magical about a washing machine, it just adds water, your soap, and shakes it around and spins it at the end. I hand wash any knit that is important to me.

This is exactly what I have done with my Stark and another sns sweater and they look the same after that without any noticable shrinkage.

Is this safe to do with most any wool knit? And is it preferable to dry cleaning?

^ Yes and yes. Or you could hand wash.
