No wonder people have been telling me they're 6'1 180lbs and wearing a medium, when I an XL copped and it fits well.

You're about my size, except I have a 39" chest - according to Porter, a medium is appropriate for a 36 chest - on me, the M was too small.

If you decide you want a medium, let me know - I'm selling mine. Army green, beautiful knit.

    I am 5'11 155 pounds and I bought a new small.

The fit is tight but the stark stretches. Its really your call - if I could choose again I would have gotten a med.

If anybody bought the Stark in size small in a purple melange and are going to return due to it being too small/tight, I'd be interested

You also live in SoCal, where it is a top layer. If you lived in a cooler place, shorter knitwear makes it a lot more versatile for layering actual jackets (not just a vest or something) over. Anyway, the Stark is meant to be fitted. Not all knitwear is, but that piece definitely is meant to be fitted. The measurements, even for the older cardigans, clearly show this. They are also not meant to be super long. Not really short, but not super long. If you ever met the SNS Herning guys, you'd probably get a better sense of this. Excepting one guy, they are Scandinavian tall, and none of the sweaters are actually long on them. And most of the knitwear is worn fitted, particularly the underplank/etc... stuff. The Stark is supposed to be longer, but more like a short jacket, than anything else. On those guys, they hit below the belt line, but don't cover, say, your jeans pockets. And the things stretch like crazy, especially if you wear them a fair bit (i.e. not like jet).

I would base your size on how well the shoulders fit. They look sloppy with dropped shoulders, but you don't want the shoulders too tight either.

You heard that guys it's supposed to be cropped.

Brosef I've worn it 100x over a vneck LOL.

I wear mine over knitwear all the time, but I also now live in a place where it snows on a fairly regular basis. In LA, you might actually need to do that 2x a year.

It's not supposed to be cropped - but it's not a long jacket either. To me, cropped is the length of Type III jacket or shorter - like the military jackets based on Cossack uniforms. Those things hit well above the beltline. But the thing is definitely not supposed to be as long as a car coat. I'd say that mine fits a little longer than a bomber, below the beltline, but not covering up the back pockets of my jeans (of course, I sag them, so that is neither here nor there.) It is certainly not designed to be worn oversized, like some of the Stephan Schneider knits, for example. The material is just too heavy to look right.

I don't give a god damn what it's "supposed" to be, I had the sizing down and I liked the way the old one was. But then I'm 6'2''+, so it wasn't long on me to begin with. Now I have to go around hunting for old model starks if I want one (and I do still want one - at least Olde Green or whatever they called that shade but the new purple ones look pretty good too).

Obviously that's a bit of a pain in the ass.

IIRC, you have to size up if you want it to fit like last seasons SNS

I don't like knits over knits personally.

Would the SNS website be the best place to see uptodate offerings before I go hunting one down?

Don't really care for old/new but would SNS. FWIW I believe I am a M/L even though I mostly wear S/M standard. The measurements I have seen so far and LA Guy confirms that these fit tight initially. Need to go TTS/Size up .5

jet are you an XL then? I don't think they make it that big. Hmm.
