I have been wearing boot cut jeans with ecco brown leather shoes, but when I bought my new straight legged jeans and cords it looks ridiculous. I was hoping you guys could help me pick out a sneaker for my new pants. These are the jeans I got: levi's 514 http://www.levisstore.com/product/in...entPage=family The cords are a similar color and also straight/slim. I like Asic Tiger's alot (I have skinny feet), but am open to other kinds of sneakers. So far I like these: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/1284295/c/744.html http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/1284295/c/14074.html A Question: These two shoes are primarily white, do white sneakers go well with such dark jeans/cords? If not, what colors should I be looking for? Thanks

wow there is no reason to get the exact same retro asics as everyone else. For your first pair of sneakers get something cheap and wait for something that you really like. The vans in the pic, or chucks cost $40 or less. If you are looking for an athletic shoe brand I would go for adidas, maybe Chiles.

Asics dont seem to be very popular where I live, so I dont think they'll be overplayed really. Also, from the ones I tried on, they fit my feet really well.

Between the two, I'd go with the 2nd pair of Mexicos. The white suede toecap will quickly end up turning grey, and I think that with the 2nd pair, the whole shoe will still keep on the same page. One thing to keep in mind with the Mexicos is that they have no padding whatsoever. IMHO this can look kinda funny unless you have big feet. Not funny in a bad way necessarily, but someone might mistake you for a european. :p If you're looking for shoes with a similar vibe but not quite so severe from a padding perspective, I'd suggest white/something Adidas Country IIs or Nike Cortezes. If you're looking for similar shoes in a darker color, black/white Adidas Sambas work ok as well.

I feel like I've seen this thread (or one similar) like once a day for the last week.
