I tend to smoke on the ocassions I would most likely wear cologne (i.e. social events, not work). Does it make any sense to wear cologne since the cigarette smell could overwhelm it? What do you fellow [social] smokers do?

I ask mainly because I'm in the market to buy a new bottle of cologne.

M7 and cigarette is a nice combo. Guess it depends on the cologne.

It may be different in older crowds, but cigarettes+cologne smell seems to be at the top of a lot of girls' lists in college. It's played out, but GIT works damn well with this. Obviously there's no making doral smoke bearable, but a suitably masculine cologne tends to work pretty well as long as you don't smell like an ash tray.

How does one maintain an acute enough sense of smell while smoking?

Apparently there's some tiny amount of research that shows they have a better sense of smell, go figure and according to Luca Turin that all makes sense. But most of the research shows is it's not the case.
