Hey all, new to the forum so, hello all
colgate.gif

I`ve got a results party/meal coming up and need some advice on what sort of thing to wear. I`m only 17 and so am not worried about a young look because...well...I`m young :p. But I also want to look pretty smart. The event is not black tie, but is "smart."

I`ve got a "lean" physique, not thin, but due to my surfing I`m not a bulky guy. I`m also quite tall at 6`0". I was thinking of the dark "sports coat," as-smart-as-they-come jeans ie not ripped, a nicely fitted shirt and clean pair of sneakers look.

I`m also not a seriously fashionable guy, I know what looks good, but I`m not one to wear something different between seasons, many of my clothes were bought for function more than anything - it`s mighty chilly in Wales! not to mention raining basically all the time.

Thanks for any help you can give,

James

PS I`ve already done a search and had a browse through topics that already exist on this site and others. Just wanted some more personal answers, wondering if my age/build/attitude would affect the answers

Sounds like you have the general idea. Personally I would go with a nice pair of leather laceups or boots instead of sneakers. Regardless of age sneakers do not seem smart. They would be better for a more casual look (ie beat up jeans/polo or tee/cotton or cord blazer)

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
