I have some Brioni wool pants that I would like to have the legs slimmed down on. If I take them to a tailor (we'll assume a decent tailor and not a quickie alternations place), will they slim the legs by taking in fabric equally from both the front and back sides in order to keep the crease in the centre? I've never had anything other than the length done on pants before.

EDIT: oops, I meant to say re-creasing should NOT be a problem even on pleated pants

My tailor usually takes in the insides of the legs (the seams that face each other). I think this is to avoid messing with the outer lines of the pants. Are you just getting the legs tapered or getting the whole thing slimmed down? Re-creasing shouldn't really be a problem even on pleated pants, but I guess you ought to just go to a tailor and ask him about it.

I think I just need the legs slimmed, there are no pleats. I will find out tomorrow, I just thought I'd hear about others experiences first in order to compare.

You could just lengthen the trouser a little more and enjoy fuller trouser legs. I think it's quite a cool look. View El Guapo Wongo!'s?
