I'm looking for slim fit wool odd trousers, likely grey solid or light pattern.

Tyrwhitt have slim trousers, but they're cotton.

Lewin have trousers, but they're not slim.

Reiss and Banada Republic are very expensive (GBP90+).

I have all my Lewin trousers tailored. If you take them from the store un-finished a decent tailor can put a really nice taper in the leg for not much money. I pay about £20 for finishing and tapering.

Interesting. You pay about GBP60 for the trou + GBP20 at the tailor for this?

I had a tragic drunk cycling accident a few weeks ago, and am down to only one servicible set of trou currently. A friend in need - thanks.

If you're actually in London it may be worth visiting the men's suit store, located on Jermyn Street. They use an in-house tailor to finish all of their trousers, and may be able to accommodate a leg slimming for a minimal extra charge.

I cannot count the number of times alcohol is cost me much much more than the price of the drink!

Zara usually have something relatively cheap & slim. Just check the fit and the fabric tag before buying.

The Asos ones are nearly there, but the belt loops seem fashion forward (canted forward at 45 degrees).

M&S suit pants come in slim sizing in the Autograph line (GBP29, but a 50/50 mix of poly/wool), and in the higher lines as well (trousers from of the slimmer canvassed line is 100% wool, but costs GBP90-120).

A leg opening of 8.25" on a 31 waist would be prefect.

£90 is not expensive for decent trousers especialy to a restricted style range.

I was able to find some to do the trick at Banana Republic. They seem to stock much slimmer styles than I recall. Wool calvary twill, GBP68.

Worth having a look in Jaeger. They have a sale on at the mo'. There's one on Cheapside as well as the Regent St mothership.

I visited London a few weeks ago and United Color of Benetton had a very nice selection of slim wool pants. I found atleast 3-4 different ones that were really nice.
Also try Massimo Dutti.

By way of an update, I have had great luck lately at Nigel Hall.

Their trou are slim (but not too slim) and on sale massively. Regular GBP115-120, on sale for GBP49 or so. Not much selection left but I was able to get two nice pairs (mid-grey and charcoal/navy) in a popular size (32) in a medium weight. Might be worth trekking to a few of the LDN stores if anyone else is in the hunt for trou now...

Website (full price on the site, but discounted heavily in store): http://www.nigelhallmenswear.com/shop/mens/trouser
