To contrast with the Oversized watch thread recent, I love slim watches - I'd love some recommendations on slim watches, preferably automatics (although I know these might be too opposite goals, given the thickness of automatics).

One slim watch I like is the Titan Edge - not in terms of style, but in thickness - anyone know of any similar watches in size?

Fug-ugly strap, etc, but you get the idea....

Check out the Zenith Class Elite. Very thin and very very classy. I have the hand wind version.

Very nice. Any similar watches with a metal strap? Not a big fan of leather, in terms of durability. Of course, if y'all disagree, feel free to inform me...

I disagree. A dress watch should be on a strap.

The Omega Constellation SS/18k YG is my "goes with anything" watch -- great with jeans or a suit. The case is only 9mm thick, automatic and CSOC chronometer certified. It also has the thinnest and most comfortable bracelet on any watch I have owned and the hidden clasp is almost non-existent.

For strap watches, the JLC Master Ultra Thin at 5.4mm is probably the thinnest in current production (hand wind).

Getting more expensive, though. My original choice of watch was the JLC MUT. Honestly, I ended up choosing the Zenith primarily since it is cheaper. Other important factors in the decision were that the Elite is only 7mm thin, I like the small second and guilloche dial, and the 37mm dial is the perfect size for my wrist. The MUT was amazing in my hand but I felt underwhelmed while it was on my wrist. I was also looking for a watch with a fully in-house movement. I'm no WIS so I may be very wrong but I did not think the MUT was worth $2K more than the Zenith.

I particularly love the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Contemporaine.

Isn't the JLC?

I have to inform you.... I disagree.

Watches in metal bracelets (and for that matter Nato straps, rubber straps, etc...) makes them NOT dress watches.

I get your point, though personally the guilloche pattern and the subdial makes the watch tip the scale a bit from dressy to conservative business dress

At least imho, ideal dress watches should have the simplest of design, but yeah the JLC prices do get ridiculous if you compare it to the Zenith... but then again if you compare it to VC (or PP) then the price becomes a steal!

Hmm - regarding the "the only dress watches are with straps", anyone care to educate me why this is so? As a personal preference, I like metal straps both for the look and for durability.
