Hello all, my first post so please go easy on me...

Just a little information about me, I am not the tallest person in the world, maybe 5"3, so my style choices are limited to say the least

I've perused through SF and SuFu both and I was wondering if anyone could help me find a small size of these peacoats...

If anyone can recommend anything else, I'd appreciate it also.
I wish to learn from you all more and more.

I would consider Streetwear to be slightly more expert in peacoats and slightly more obsessed with slimness, so you might want to cross-post this.

The quest for slim peacoats (which is almost an oxymoron) comes up a lot in SW. One option that always gets raised is to purchase a military surplus coat and have extensive alterations performed.

I found a great looking one (linked in the thread Jared linked) on Rakuten but I wouldn't know how to order from there. So I'm just gonna order from www.vtarmynavy.com and size down, then maybe get some alterations done

The Sterlingwear coats are very nice and quite fitted.

The "Authentic" is fleece lined and pretty warm though it is of a lighter wool than a Schott. However, the cut and finishing is far superior. The pic on the vermont sight doesn't do it justice.

The U.S. Navy's official uniform peacoat costs about $130. They make a 36 Short. Find someone in uniform or retired, ask them to go to http://www.aafes.com/ and buy it for you.

This coat is fabulous! Unfortunately, it's sold out and I don't see any sizing information available either. Anyway, I'm currently leaning towards purchasing the Sterlingwear. But thanks for the tip though, I appreciate it. Thanks to everyone who helped.

Do you have one yourself? I checked their website and the quality of their pictures suck. How does it look in real life? Can the coat compete in terms of style with the "big boys"?

Who are the "Big Boys"?

Yes, the website sucks. The best I can tell you is that they are slim. I stuck with my jacket size and was fine.

I also tried on a vintage PC at RL and the Sterling is the closest to it in terms of weight and fit. The vintage coat was quite thin and nowhere near the heft of a thick Schott coat.

RL on Bleeker St. if you're interested. $400.

I think it's best to hit an navy shop and try on the Schott, Sterling, Fidelity and whatever other "authentic" pea coat they'll try and sell you.

I just liked the SW finish and lining.

Good luck,

lol sorry if the term seems a bit slangish. I meant Boss, RL, and etc.

They do have a nice refund policy so maybe I'll take a risk and try it. Is the coat very comfortable to wear?

It's a pea coat.

Sure it's comfortable, especially when a nor'easter's coming in.

Not as comfortable as the cashmere RLPL, mind you, but would you really swab the deck in a 2K coat?
