slim fit/straight leg vs. straight leg jeans

I've been trying to find a pair of jeans (washed gray or blueish) and have been going back and forth between the slim-fit/straight leg vs. straight leg vintage variety that sit right on or below my waist line. I have a slender build and have the impression that a pair of jeans too slim-fitting would not flatter my legs and alternatively my lower body seems to disappear in jeans that have a relaxed fit. Now my waist line is 29 and I'm 5''7. What type of jean should I shop for? And what brands would you recommend?

Look forward to hearing your response.

I think you will get more love on the "Streetwear and Denim" Forum than here . . .
