I've been looking for a decent pea coat as well and happened to be in Target when I noticed theirs. Believe it or not, sizing down 1 size (I'm normally a medium so I used a small) actually fit very well. It was going for $65 in the store which is much lower than what I had been seeing other pea coats go for.

The drawback is that the exterior is not 100% wool. If that is a deal breaker for you then I would probably try some army/navy stores and size down there as well. Those will probably run you $90-120 but will be 100% wool.

Note: the person in the picture in the target ad looks like they are wearing their normal size in the coat, sizing down 1 size will appear slimmer.

I hope this helped.

There have been like 25 threads on this in the last year over in Streetwear, a quick search for peacoat should give you all of the information you need.

One solution I did with mine is to simply move the 4 buttons over. Suddenly it was a "slim fit"!

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
