I am in the proverbial "slim fit" category, and seem to have had reasonably good luck finding formal clothes that fit, due in large part to the recent trend toward slim fits now serving those of us who had been overlooked by the fashion industry lo these many years.
The key difficulty for me right now is action wear: both workout clothes and outdoor clothes. I am wondering if there is a source for workout clothes that makes a long, slim fit. I'm not keen on stretch wear, so something like the casual t-shirts and track pants that any number of retailers sell--only with a narrow fit, not the vast expanses of fabric that most fits have in the waist and in the leg with the "American male" in mind.
The outerwear situation is especially difficult. I'm currently using Columbia for my active outdoor jacket, but they, like many others, err on the side of too much fabric in the middle, presumably leaving the wearer to adapt by way of draw strings and cinches. But draw strings and cinches aren't cutting it, and there's just too much fabric that lets the cold in--what I need is something which is fitted from the chest through the waist through the hips, that's close from top to bottom.
If H&M had an action wear line, I'd be in business, but they don't. They do have some jackets, but nothing suitable for outdoor activities like Columbia. I'm willing to look at Patagonia, but given their sewn-with-gold-thread prices, it had better fit like a glove. Ideally, I'd like to find a retailer who has left one-size-fits-all behind and designed clothes for true athletic fit.
