Doesn't it drive you crazy when people leave the sleeve tags on their suit or overcoat jackets?

My current team lead just came over to talk to me while still wearing his overcoat and my attention was somewhat distracted because I just wanted to tell him to get a thread cutter and take the "Claiborne" tag off of his left sleeve.

I see this all the time on the light rail and when walking around downtown Sacramento. Grrr!

One of my friends does this. When another of my friends told him to remove it he promptly replied "but how are people suppose to know its Armani then?!"

Have you considered writing a blog called Sleeve Tags in the City?

Oh my god. You have no idea how much I want to slap people who do this in the face. I was quite proud once, my father noticed someone with their tags on - he promptly went up to him picked up his sleeve/arm - cut the tags off - proceeded to open the young man's blazer and stuff them in his interior pocket. Then he just smiled and walked away. (Wasn't some random person, was one an acquaintance of ours)

I was on a flight next to a guy who had a giant Hugo Boss label on his suit jacket sleeve. Of course, I pointed it out to him, and his response was this: How else would people know I am wearing Hugo Boss?

He's got a point there, you know. I wonder if they're acquainted.

This gentleman (and I use the term loosely) also had giant BMW cuff links. How else could he let everyone know he drives a BMW, right?

I have wondered about scarfs. Are those tags intended to be cut off?

I remove tags from scarves, handkerchiefs and pocket squares as soon as I buy them. They are just a constant annoyance.

The only reason I could see keeping them is to sell, but those people that buy clothes with the intention of selling them after they are used are likely the same who wore tags on their sleeves in another life.

People can't help being shilly-shally. They should drive the whole road and leave the price tags on; as well.

I see sleeve tags all the time on the train....almost always on people from a certain country.

It's a double-edged sword. On one side - yes, you do show people that you can afford a designer-name suit, on the other - you show that money really can't buy class.

On a side note, I always wondered what is the purpose of those sleeve tags to begin with?!?

As far as i know its meant to be for stores where they have more than one brand so it would be easier for you to see what brand you are looking at without having to take the suit/coat off the rack.
