My flipper feet measure 9.5 EEE on the brannock and to make things worse I have a high instep and a narrow heel. For sizing reference, the Allen Edmonds Strand 9.5 EEE fits me very well.

I've been trying to find a loafer with a more Italian shape. For example something along the lines of a Gaziano & Girling Antibes. I can't justify the cost of going bespoke and would rather keep the price under $500.

Does anyone make anything that would satisfy these requirements? Or is there an Allen Edmonds loafer that comes reasonably close to this shape?

Thanks!

You should be able to sort something out via MTO and not full bespoke. Allen Edmonds and Alden both do MTO. Skoaktiebolaget (SF affiliate) also has mto from several brands. Meermin occasionally does wide gmto, but i dont think I have seen wide loafers.

I've dealt with the same problem.

Look at C&J Cavendish (325 last) or Sydney/ Tiegen..basically an unlined Sydney (341 last) models. Cavendish is wider out of the gate, but if you throw a stretcher on the 341 it'll be fine.

I am a 3E also so I understand your challenges. As I'm looking at it (link below) what is it you want to emulate in a 3E? The squarish narrow toe, split toe and long vamp? I will let you know if I see any. Good luck.

I don't need MTO from Alden or Allen Edmonds. The RTW EEE widths fit me well. My issue is they don't seem to sell anything that has the sort of shape I am after.

I'll look into Skoaktiebolaget and Meermin. Thank you.

Would these actually fit a EEE width foot? I'm skeptical...

A more "Italian" last shape. Chiseled toe, longer and sleeker.

I think the problem is proportion. It sounds like by an "Italian" looking shape you are looking for a shoe with a larger length:width ratio, but for a wide foot that means the shoe would have to be very long -- probably too long to be wearable. By definition, a shoe made for a wide foot is going to look less 'sleek' than a shoe made for a narrow foot.

I apologize for the unflattering simile, but it's like a short man with a big belly asking for a sportcoat that makes them look tall and slim.

Yes those C&Js fit wide feet. I have a left foot that's a solid 3E+ and a right foot that's 3E-ish. All my shoes have to be stretched (unless I'm buying 4E running shoes), so I have a professional stretcher on hand in my closet.

C&J's 325 is their widest last (they have a few G widths, but that opens up a discussion of a shoe's "volume" which is different from width); 341 is sleeker and needs more stretching but works.

Ferragamo could very well be the answer - they do quite a bit of wide models. Search eBay - for instance, this discontinued "Goliath" seems close to what you're looking for.

I feel your pain. I wear 4E running shoes( trainers). I was measured
at the Weston shop in London and told that the "F" width (Weston
has their own size system) would fit in the classical 180 loafer. Needless to say,
there were no loafers in that size in stock, Great shoes but they run $800 +
depending on the leather.

You may also want to look at the C&J Teigen as it is also on the 341 last but is unlined. This makes the upper extremely soft and pliable and is the first shoe I haven't had to stretch prior to wearing! Only potential downside is that it only comes in a dark brown suede, but I personally fin ethics color the most flexible when it comes to suede in general.

Oh man...talk about missing the boat. So prior to the release of the onslaught of bologna cemented … garbage, AE used to produce seasonal styles on what I refer to in my fit guide as the "large Italian" last. These shoes included the Firenze, Fiesole, Positano and others. Any of these in either a 9EEE or 9.5EEE I think would have been a prime candidate for you. They run long, not wide but not narrow, standard heelcup and most importantly include soft flexible materials making the vamps more tolerable. If you can track down any of these I would take a shot. I guess a runner-up would be the Arrezzo if you had the ability to return it if necessary. Not as forgiving as those others.

If you could handle a massive heel (and I mean massive), the McGraw would work too.
