Sleek / "fashion forward" chelsea boots

I'm looking for a nice pair of black chelsea boots, preferably less than $250. I really like the shape of this pair from Crockett & Jones: but they're out of my price range. From what I've found, it seems like the general consensus here is that RM Williams is the best choice for a moderately priced chelsea, but in all the pictures I've seen of them, they look a little too chunky for my taste. Where would be a good place to look for a sleeker, more "mod revival" chelsea boot?

Have you looked at the Williams boots with the chisel toe? I think they look sleeker than the more rounded-toe versions.

Crockett & Jones Paris has an elongated chelsea boot in its collection. On a 348 last, I believe.

As others have said, that depends on the type you order. Check out Nungar's site as well as Bootsonline for more pics.

Depending on the toe type / last / width, you can get an exceptionally nice, sleek looking pair for around $200. I just ordered some last week myself.....

Very nice - they look to be almost exactly the same shape as the 238 Chelseas from C&J. However, the C&Js have closer-cut welts and finer stitching. But for the severe difference in price, these are a really good option.

I adore my Cole Haan Durham Chelsea boots (in black). Completely waterproof and very comfortable, and they still look terrific considering I've worn them ~3 days a week for the last two years (heavy walking on a college campus, too). They retail at $200, and they're one of the few things that the brand still has going for it.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I did some looking on my own, and I found these boots from a company called Beatwear:



I like the shape (the heel is a little too tall though), but I've never heard of the company, and I'm wary to drop $180 on them with no idea as to the leather/construction quality (or lack thereof).

I see you found Beatwear on your own. I was hesitant to recommend them as I don't know anything about them other than they repro 60s style boots with the cuban heel, but if you wanted to experiment with a good return policy, I know Zappos sells (sold) Giorgio Brutini chelseas that have almost the exact same styling for around $100, with cuban heel as well.

The split down the middle of the shoe makes those look horrible imo.....
