Slanted Sleeve Cuffs?

I bought a plaid sport coat from Brooks Brothers and I took it to a tailor to get the sleeves shortened. The tailor made the sleeves slanted. I think they look weird. He says that's how it should be.

So are they supposed to be straight or slanted? Is it up to my preference?

My tailor also tried to pull this on me, I said I didn't want it. I think it's something cheap tailors do to save time = save money?

It is considered stylish and allows your cuffs and links to show more easily than a straight cut. Next step up is tighter arms with flaired cuffs. Enjoy.

Ok, thanks. I told him I wanted it straight so he took it back. I also forgot to mention that the slant goes longer on the outside and shorter on the inside. It was a very heavy slant too.

Yeah, it was the original length at the buttons but higher up in the front. Looked weird.
