Thanks for asking! He’s a calm, sturdy little feller. And big brother and sister is helping out so can’t say it’s as laborious as I feared. :) Have a nice weekend!

How about the Medway sole mentioned below? I realize it's not quite commando but might be acceptable, no?

Count me as a 2nd that is extremely interested in the shell hatch grain. I would buy the ones that are available now if they were my size. :(

I think I’ve nailed down the most popular options of the GMTO now:

L&T Kingsley on the T last
    Bourbon or Armagnac Cordovan
    Natural calf lining
    Dainite or Medway sole
    Natural or lighter colour welt
Antique brass eyelets and speedhooks - 4 rows of each.

This works for me. I'd say the welt color preference might depend upon the shell color. Can I throw a slight wrench? Thoughts on the shell hatch grain potentially two tone with one of the other shells mentioned? Probably the bourbon is more matchy, color wise. The hatch grain could be interesting for the shaft, perhaps. Anyway, not an absolute for me - curious about thoughts. Still need to do more research on L&T --- didn't have a chance last night.

I totally agree on the edge colour - I like the contrast of the darker outer with a lighter welt - it’s a bit English tramper to me :). I’ll have a chat with my OCD about mixing textures :).
PS. I didn’t mean to put you off Armagnac - to my eye it’s only a touch lighter than pics I’ve seen of Dark Cognac (never seen that colour IRL). Maybe Leaves can give a better appraisal.

Patrik, would you be able to provide a side by side photo of the bourbon hatch and armagnac please?

Holy those shell Talways (?) are beautiful. Will this be made into a MTO/standard stock? Would snap it up but alas, it's not my size.
