@Leaves what kind of insoles do you use in your L&T shoes and boots? They feel cushioned. Is there some padding inside and if so, what kind of material is the padding made of?

And do they have a thick leather insole like the L&T shoes and boots used to have a few years back (just plain thick leather) or is it a thin leather liner on top of the padding material?

Our store is on a pedestrian shopping street in a very upscale part of town with a lot of fancy offices; lawyers, financial people, etc. All of these people working there, and they constitute the vast majority of our clients, are working from home. And many people that would go into town shopping in this very lovely area on weekends also abstain from venturing into the city.

Swedish constitution makes it impossible for the government to close down business like restaurants and pubs, or any business for that matter, so all the restrictions are basically government "recommendations" and relies on people's good judgement. It's funny how Sweden is considered to be "socialistic" but in fact the constitution rigorously protects businesses from too much government meddling.

We have very few tourists visiting the store to be honest, so in that regard we are not as heavily affected like a Jermyn Street, London business for example.
Yes, your (lovely) store is indeed in a lovely part of town! I visited as a (shoe) tourist a while back, and it remains one of my favorite little day trips. Holding out a good thought for you all. Hope to be able to visit again before too long.

Hope to see you in the store sometime soon. Note that we are still on somewhat limited opening hours due to the heavy negative impact the local government recommendations have on the footfall in the area. So it’s weekdays 12.00 - 18.00 and Saturdays 12.00 - 15.00.

Thank you! I've already popped in once or twice (and bought a pair of oxfords), though i wouldn't necessarily travel to Stockholm only for the purpose of buying shoes in these times. I would also add that it is a lovely store, and i commend you for actually opening it a brick and mortar store and not just limiting the business to e-commerce.

But if i happen to be in Stockholm, I'll be there!

We do have an exceptionally strong catalogue of rights in our constitution, though i wouldn't go as far as say it's impossible. The communicable diseases act gives perhaps the most wide-reaching capability to restrict those rights, and allows for a certain person in the region to shut down areas should they see fit. I would say though that it is probably too blunt of a tool to even be consider to be used, especially in the Stockholm area. The single most valuable tool in the Swedish toolbox is the reciprocity of trust between the state and the individual, which is (traditionally atleast) very high - which allows for these recommendations to have effect.

Also, the fact that decisions are made by professional officials rather than politicians* means that the course of action is perhaps a bit more pragmatic and deliberate than it otherwise would be.

*Especially as our current administration seems to be a bit... dysfunctional - though that's a highly personal opinion and probably a discussion for another thread and another forum.

The worst part of getting new shoes is to resist the urge of wearing them everyday for the first week or so...

This is just a quick shout out to @Leaves and his team for superb service. I ordered 2 of the Foster and Sons models in 2 separate orders (Highclere and Keble - fwiw, both gorgeous - certainly compare favorably to the EG and G&G I own). The Highclere was delivered to the US East Coast in 3 business days, everything in perfect order and great shape. The Keble took 4 business days, again in perfect condition. For a 4000 mile journey in a COVID-19, logistics-constrained world, the turnaround time on both was fantastic. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for other orders from retailers less than 100 miles from me, placed at the same time...

Its prettig crazy that great shops like Skoak get me things faster than online orders from stores in the same city....

Better to have your shoes "rest" for a day in between wears

Sure...in general. But you can make exceptions. Your shoes won't explode if you wear them two days in a row. Do you bring three pairs of shoes when you go on vacation to give them time to rest? Do you pack shoe trees when you go on a trip? People on here would sooner break the law than wear shoes multiple days in a row. Besides, with the number of shoes people on this forum have, it's not like anyone actually needs to care about the extra durability that comes from not wearing shoes multiple days in a row.

I get what you mean, and concur. But for what it's worth, it's not uncommon for me to travel with three pair and to carry trees for all. Or at least one set of wood trees and the rest plastic. But really, I don't sweat the weight of the trees, usually, if it's a decent sized trip. A trip of one or two days would of course be another story.

But yes, I also wouldn't sweat wearing the shoes consecutive days on such a trip. I think you make a great point about the 'durability savings' having diminishing returns.

And I suppose, the more I think about it, aren't you actually trying to break the shoes down, when it comes to it, in the break-in period? Maybe not wearing them on consecutive days in the break-in period is counterproductive after all!

Unfortunately I experienced the opposite, sent a PM here and a message on FB without any reply, yet made an order on Sun and still waiting (EU location).
