Agreed, though it is the best time to snap some up on sale.

And that’s basically what is killing the traditional retail industry right now. I totally understand that people want to make a good deal. But it will drive all smaller niche boutiques out of business, if no one buys anything except when there’s a sale. Unless you do as many US retailers and large online stores which have a higher margin on everything and then hold “sales” where the sale price is what the non-sale price should have been from the beginning. That’s what they would call a rip off in the good old days but has now become an industry standard.

@Leaves I was considering visiting the shop today to chat with Daniel Wegan, but with the current situation with covid-19, do you only want people who will actually purchase a pair?

I have not booked an appointment, but I'm always interested in learning more. I'm considering bespoke in the future, but not now.

Anyone is welcome. We do not expect a huge crowd. If that becomes an issue we will make sure that people will have to wait outside for a bit. Until the store becomes less crowded and Daniel has the time for a chat.

The comment was made in jest, but I should have done a better job of realizing who I was responding to. I understand the comment hit a nerve and for that, I apologize.

Sorry didn’t get it was a jest. Being a non-native English speaker, sometimes subtleties are not something I pick up on.

No offense taken anyway. Have a great Friday.

No problem, I should have added one of these ? and I'm glad no offense was taken!

@Leaves any hint on what the upcoming EB Boots with Norvegese Stitch will look like?

Deciding on wether I should wait for the boots or jump on the recent EB Norvegese Derbys in dark brown grain.

Curious, if nothing else. Keep me posted.

I could be interested in a black penny loafer (or wholecut loafer) on the 946 or 74945. How about this model:

In black calf but with black croc for the full strap to kick it up a notch?

Hmmmm, definitely sexes it up a notch if we go croc. Definitely interested in that concept. IRT to last, let me check on that. I have a pair of regular EB wholecuts in the 946 that I've regrettably still yet to wear. I'll give them a try on and report back. Down with that potential twist @CLTesquire ?

If it makes it easier, I'd prefer the 74945 to the 946. The loafer I linked is also on the 74945. The 74945 has a slightly lower instep than the 946 and is a round toe instead of a square toe.

I'd also suggest a 180 degree handwelt (like the loafer I linked) and a black single leather sole. You can see an example of the sole I'm talking about on my gatoraides here:

That being said I'd also be open to a vibram topy on a single leather sole.

I like that idea, just not sure I'd get use out of black. Thinking on it for sure. FWIW, 946, 74945, 804, 363MOD all have the same instep
