That black captoe is exceptional. Lots of possibilities with that model.

Partly due to my high instep making them a tough fit, but that aside there seem to be any number of styles I am drawn to ahead of loafers. No hate, just not my fave.

just messing with you really as I picture you sitting poolside in the summer with a cold drink and a pair of suede loafers

You ought to try the XIM last from Carmina sometime. I have found it to be a really great loafer last and address the high instep issue

@Leaves or anybody who can answer this really:

Would it be a smart move to go down a half size from the rain last for the 804? If the instep is higher then rain I'm thinking it could be a good move for myself, so long as the last is still elongated.

Everything I have seen says to take the same size on 804 as Rain. Rain fits me really well, and I have never had to go down 1.5 sizes from US to UK. I'll have first hand input next week

@Leaves @stevent @greasymonkey any word on the kudu leather characteristics? Love the look, but unsure on the feel and care.

I have three pairs of Isham, two in calf and one in Kudu, all on MH71. I also have Hove on DG70 in Arran Grain. My first impression is that Kudu performs more similar to grain than normal calf. I'm going to use BICK4 for maintenance and if needed, a neutral polish.

I have the same exact issue. I have yet to find a decent high instep loafer.

We would recommend the same size for the 804 and Rain lasts. The 804 is slightly more elongated but the instep and width is very similar.

I have the same exact issue. I have yet to find a decent high instep loafer.

I have a ferociously high instep and can never wear loafers. I saw some Carmina string suede loafers on the UETAM last for sale on the Carmina website and bought them a couple weeks ago. So far, they have been great.

I'm a 13 EG, 12.5 GG, 12.5 Bonafe, and the 12.5 Carmina loafers fit very, very well. A small amount of heel rubbing on the first wear, but no real slippage, and the second wear almost no heel rubbing or irritation at all.

This is extremely helpful thank you sir. I was under the impression the UETAM last was closer in fit to SIMPSON which is unwearable for me. I also have wider feet. Double Whammy LoL

I was under the same impression as well but so far so good. I do have relatively narrow feet though.

I too have a higher instep and somewhat wider foot but am able to comfortably wear the Carmina string penny loafer in suede. It took some breaking in, but I think due to the pliability of the suede it works, not sure if this would be the case for other leathers. Although I recently purchased a double monk in rusticalf which is incredibly soft and comfortable. A loafer in that leather might also work on the Uetam last, just food for thought.

I'm placing an MTO for Enzo Bonafe split toes in their mocha suede. Same EB style as below but without the Norvogese stitching - should turn out similarly to the second pic (EG dovers in mocha suede). I'm going to place the order regardless but just wanted to post here in case a couple more people are interested. Send me a PM if you are.
