1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

If sneaker route, I think Buttero would be good for them.

@RogerP - love those blue laces on that suede. You're a boot genius.

I thought that, too, but now I think they're just stock.

Didn't Patrick hint at carrying StC? At least, he mentioned a nice discussion with Phillip recently. Seems way beyond the price point it EG/GG, though, so I could be wrong.

    X-post from the Carmina thread:

Was thinking of picking up a few pairs of Carminas.

I'm a UK9.5 in pretty much every brand, medium (D) width. In particular, Church UK9.5 D seems to fit me well (a tiny bit loose in the toe box but that's probably more the last). Mr Hare, Gucci, D&G... they all seem to be UK9.5 too.

With that in mind, what size would I potentially be in the Simpson, Forest and Rain lasts? Quite confused! Thanks.

The price point of St C's are no longer way beyond EG or G&G anymore. Of course this does depend on where you buy your shoes and whether or not you consider a couple of a hundred dollars making them way beyond their price point. Also it depends on whether you buy EGs top drawer or G&Gs equivalent then you probably talking the same if not higher price when compared to St C. Besides there are more than a few retailers who sell EG, G&G, and St Cs all from the same location. All three would be considered to be in the upper echelon of RTW shoes.

Regardless like I've been told, you just can't believe everything you read on the internet. LOL

Thanks for the comments on the boots, gents. I think they will prove to be a versatile addition.

I'm trying to decide between the GG Thorpe in a dark brown and EG Nevis. I'm leaning towards the leather sole and was wondering how you wear yours. This would be my first GG so wondering if anybody has opinions or even better yet pictures of you wearing either. In my mind you can only wear these with more casual clothes (no suits and related slacks), and I have a slight concern around the Thorpe more elongated shape

I realize we all have different tastes, but just opening it up to see what others are doing with and thinking of the Thorpe.

    Thanks

Both great boots. I'd say when similarly specced, the Thorpe looks a bit dressier overall. Highly subjective, though.

    Gents,

    Quick question here:

Is the Carmina Classic Wingtip the same brown as the Carmina Brown Double Monk?

Any non-studio "at-home" or Iphone shots would be appreciated of any brown carminas from skoaktiebolaget

    Thank you!

These are the classic brown wingtips in somewhat direct sunlight. They are dark brown in any other lighting

From what I understand they're both in "vegano brown", a mid/dark brown shade that is very hard to capture. Other shoes in this color are the austerity brogue and the semibrogue, most likely the derby and the modern classic too. My five hole chukkas (model #905) are in the same color and as you can see it varies with the light, sometimes they're a dark brown and sometimes almost red/burgundy:

Unfortunately I don't have any daylight photos of my semibrogues.
