1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I used to be put off by the side stitching on the Thorpe. However, after having handled the Thorpe in real life - and now owning the Thorpe - I think it actually adds character. The Thorpe on Dainite is a perfect nominee for various grain leathers from G&G.

What Last did you get it on, and how did you find the fit?

Wow, a change of heart from Seven on the Thorpe [IMG]...just don't mention it on the EG thread! I don't know if it is the thickness of the leather used, or just the fit of the Thorpe on me, but it is one of my warmer wearing boots (even compared to shell).

Zugglets called to advise they are disturbed with being compared to any other material. Rumor has it Zug will replace industrial diamonds this year also the US Cycling team will not make frames out of Zug.

Thank You @leaves and alexander for the photo of the suede options. Is it fair to say tobacco suede is more dynamic color compared to nutmeg?

I'm about to pounce on a pair of Carminas on the Oscar last, but I'm still hesitant on the sizing. I normally wear a 7.5UK on almost every last, Meermins Hiro, Loakes Capital, Herrings 024 etc. My initial reaction is to keep my usual size, but I read that some have sized up ½-size on the Oscar last and now I'm between choices.

    What would you gents suggest?

I have 2 pairs of G&G loafers on the KN14 last in UK8.5D (I like my loafers snug). I took UK8.5E in the boot and the fit is great. My Thorpe is in Rustic Arran Grain.

    :D I'm all about variety.

I liked this boot IRL much better than the pics I had seen. And the construction of the boot is top notch.

Thanks, I'm still trying to determine if I'll go with the Nevis or the Thorpe.

You misspelled it. Take away "or" and insert "and" :D

Jokes aside...i think both are great but would have gone for Nevis in CC.

I already have a few Dovers, and in the past have purchased a Nevis and a Halifax (neither of which I still have), so the decision was pretty easy for me. I like variety. But either one is a good choice.
