Not saying it doesn't matter to me. Just that if you're in the market for > $1k shoes and $300 is gonna break the bank, you might want to adjust your priorities...

Have to disagree on your comment on priorities. Everybody has a marginal propensity to consume based on their income level. So $300 would make a difference in that context.

I’m with this. I get that the increase isn’t pennies, but we’re talking about $1000+ shoes here. If spending $1500 is really problematic (beyond principle), I don’t think spending $1200 would be terribly wise, either.

Question for Leaves, does the Black Friday sale starts at 12AM at Swedish time zone? Which would be sometime Thursday for some of us in North America?

This was my point exactly.

Questionable logic there. But carry on!

I dunno. Just because you have 1200$ to spend doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t care about that extra $300. I mean, that’s a resole or some pants or something.

I'm with this. Just because I would be in the market for a $30,000 car, doesn't mean that I can just as easily jump up to a $39,000 car. There's always a margin and limit people have.

Or add $25 to that and get another pair from Carlos Santos. LOL

I think everyone just has different wants, needs, tastes, thresholds that go beyond finances. Luckily Skoak caters to all sorts.

I’ve got an extremely wealthy friend who wouldn’t even spend $100 on shoes.

FWIW, I love how Paolo Scafora looks, but I cannot justify the spend when they do not come with shoe trees. I know that in the end it's about 10% of the price, but that is actually what bothers me at this price point: it feels a bit absurd that shoes of that level would not come with their trees to begin with. I take it as an insult. It makes me feel like I am being nickel & dimed, which I find unacceptable with that level of shoe.

Also, I have a pair of Stefano Bemer (RTW), which comes in about the same price point (well, I got it for $650, but that was a sale price) and includes excellent lasted trees, a sturdy wooden shoe box, and tweed-like textured shoe bags.

A bit like a 400-500$ a night hotel charging you an extra 15$ for WiFi....

Not quite sure I'd say that. IMO G&G's lasts and patterns just can't be beat. So sexy. St. Crispin's definitely beats them out on construction though. Those pegged waists are things of beauty.

Actually I'd say my least favorite aspect of St. Crispin's are the lasts. The Classic and Riva are definitely nice, but don't hold a candle to say G&G's MH71 , TG73 or DG70. I'd even say that I even prefer some of Carmina's lasts (like the Rain) to St. Crispin's. JL on the other hand just seems a bit conservative/stodgy overall to interest me, and EG seems like a more boring G&G (minus the Galway).

Anyways, I at least see aspects of G&G that have made me choose them vs. St.Crispin's. But not so much when it comes to EG or JL.

That being said, some Paolo Scafora models are interesting enough I might eventually take the plunge. These criss-cross monks for example are super cool:

I quite like these single monks as well:

If they ever showed up as a GMTO or in Skoak's shop I'd probably pull the trigger... :p

I only have two GG (sold the one on TG73, too tight in same size as MH71, up size was too long, kept the MH71), I love them on picture, in person I thought they were striking at first, but now after while I can't say I found them as "special". Right now I got one shoe from Antonio Meccariello that has tighter waist (and pretty much everywhere) vs. GG and no worse finishing than GG (at least as far as I can tell). so yes GG has very striking last design, but I'm not sure they're as special as some think they're.

p.s. sold my EG as well, though probably because those were Saks EG so too tight on D width...

which still happen more often than you think, though in this case the equivalent would be charge you 50 (~10%) for wifi I guess...
