1. is a skinny tie less formal then a wider one?

2. is a skinny tie appropriate for weddings?

Thanks.

I would say generally worn by in-shape people less than 35 years old.

this. skinny ties look good with a thin lapel. fit men can pull off the thin lapel better than "bigger" people. thin tie + thin lapel + fit guy (regardless of age) =

Agreed, but one more thing... Skinny ties work better for the slender / emaciated. In shape people with normal body proportions are better off with ties erring on the side of normal (in 3" to 4" range).

generally, do skinny ties look better with longer faces vs. rounded faces?

There's a difference between a skinny and a slim tie: Skinny is narrower, and very much a fashion-only thing; normal slim ties can look good on anyone, in my opinion. I personally don't subscribe to the school of though that says, 'round face: wear this; slim face: wear this'.

Id say "slim" ties can be worn by anyone and work well for skinnier people. If you are a bigger guy though, you want the tie to be proportionate to your body type...it might just look weird if a big guy is wearing a skinny tie. I myself prefer the slim ties at 2 to 3".

Slim (2"-3") ties look good on slim people.

Skinny ties (<=2") look good on nobody.

If you want a skinny tie, I just wear the thin bit "out", a lot smarter and simpler!
