sounds good to me. I can picture a lot of colors going with that, off white, light grey, grey-ish light blue, maybe even lavender or pure white.

Many people on this forum frown on the combination of navy and black. I personally think it'd be relatively innocuous but others mileages may definitely vary.

I don't think black and navy are a successfull combination, except maybe in the case of a black overcoat over a blue suit, and of course navy suit & black shoes.
I have seen it with some designer (helmut lang f.i.) : satin dark blue shirts with a black skinny tie and navy suit, but all items were of a seemingly shining texture (silk & satin cotton) which gave some sort of unity in the outfit.
Regardless, I think it's a very hasardous combination.
