Sizing question for the Crocket & Jones Edgeware (Last 348)

I've been an avid reader over the last four years, and signed up recently but this is my first post. I've finally made the decision to invest in a good quality pair of shoes and C&J should be a good introduction.

I have tried on the 348 Last in the F width and find the size 9 to be the best fit. I prefer the fit around the toes in the 9 1/2 but there is too much room around the top of the ankle. The 9 fits around the top of the ankle but is a little snug around the toes (this may give a little and is preferable to a slightly loose fit around the ankle in the 9 1/2).

The dilemma is that I wish to purchase the Edgeware, which only comes in a E width and I'm a little uncertain about sizing as I have only tried on the 348 Last in the F width. Should I go up to the 9 1/2 in the E width or will I have similar issues with the slightly loose fit around the ankle that I experienced with the 9 1/2 in the F width? Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks for your help

Thanks SpooPoker for your reply, will i have the same issues around the ankle I had with the 9 1/2 F if I order the 9 1/2 E or will it be a little tighter around the ankle in the normal width E?

thanks

I'm a standard size 9 . My Edgewares in 9 fit perfectly (as do other models I have on the 348/358).
If you are normally a wider fit you may well struggle but might get away with a half size bigger than you usually take. Presumably you could return them if unsuitable.
