Size advice for Alden Shell cordovan oxfords/boots?

I went to the alden store the other day to get sized on the Barrie last. The oxfords in chromexcel 12 they brought out seemed like it might be a hair big, but other than that seemed remarkably TTS. everything I've read about their shell cordovan oxfords/boots says the barrie last fits a half size larger? Is this erroneous or am I overlooking something?

Since the boots/oxfords I want aren't in stock right now and they'd have to be ordered I'd like to make sure I order the right size the first time around since it might be a long wait.

There is an Alden thread if you have additional questions. IME, I have to size down .5 (D width) with Barrie/Trubalance lasts and it fits very well.
