1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Disrupts subscribed threads. And I don't want to block the guy. I like him. It seems like telling him not to do the inane "nice colors" is really what is warranted. He doesn't even try to make it make sense. He's complimented image free posts before for having "elegant color combination"

Edit: really don't want to block him. I like the fits he posts and I don't want to miss those either.

    This.

I don't want to have to block anyone.

The Noodle thread is one of the few threads I subscribe to. (Along with the Cloth Thread, etc).

He distracts the exchange of ideas with his vapid posts. We've asked him kindly to stop several times, but he persists. I even asked him in Italian! If that's not the definition of trolling/spamming, I don't know what is.

Is it the unspoilered pics or the comments? If the pics, then lobby the powers that be for auto-spoilering when quoting. Gianni is hardly the only unspoiler. If the comments, then I think you just have to learn to cope. He is complimenting people, and this place isn't exactly drowning in positivity.

Basically, if you're looking for a tightly edited, curated experience, this forum isn't the place for it. Going with Fok's metaphor, every bar has loudmouths and know-it-alls, but as long as they're nice, the bartender isn't going to kick them out. As someone who participates happily in the digressions in various threads (and I'm not the only one...), I believe it's on me to scroll past the stuff that doesn't interest me. I don't think that's a large burden.

There are some some thread you don't mess with. I remember Manton asking the mods to clean his threads of spam

Like one time, I got dinged for posting "Is this CBD?" in the CBD thread. It was an honest question, but it went against the wishes of the OP, so it was deleted

So, when Gianni posts something objectionable in your thread, you have precedent on your side in asking to have it removed. :)

*sigh* Y NO U SEE JOKE?

A suggestion: PM the relevant folks with your request and let them act as they see fit. If they agree with you, great, problem solved. If not, no more in-line carping about/parodying Gianni.

Manton is dubiously honored, which gives him the right to edit posts within threads he has started. Only those with the DH designation can do this, and only within threads they have started. This is why Manton was able to edit out posts he did not want to see in the CBD thread.

I have no idea whether Claghorn has such privileges. If not, then reporting annoying posts within this thread is the very definition of notifying the relevant folks and hoping they will do as they see fit.

Even if Claghorn does have privileges, his inaction on the topic does not need to be the final word anyway, and reporting annoying behavior in trans mod is theoretically pertinent.

The real problem with reporting in trans mod is that nobody with the power to do anything actually looks at trans mod. Sorry.

    Thus the suggestion to PM...
