1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Fok on behalf of the entire Styleforum team

Yes I thought this was my iPad playing up. Not really a mods issue IMO but that shit needs to be fixed.

I dunno if you guys know how ad networks work, but except for things like affiliate threads, over which we have full control, everything is automated, and relies on both our own settings being correct and the networks playing by the rules. There is also the very real possibility of it being a user specific problem, which happens all the time, even to multiple users. We can't track down the problem unless we can get a destination URL and (hopefully, a screen shot).

Also, I only check this thread intermittently, so if there is platform issue, it's best to pm me.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

I thought this thread was for the mods to come in here to say "here is why I deleted this thread" or discuss banning a user. There is a separate thread for technical issues with the new forum...

Of course I don't think Huddler actually has anybody reading that thread either...

LA Guy is right though...you've got to capture the URL and a Screenshot of the shitty ads (or even inspect element/view source). They need to clamp down harder on their ad providers, but without evidence of what is slipping through, that is harder to do.

This thread was originally created to allow moderators to explain why a specific decision was made, and made a lot of sense when the site was much smaller. Even at that time, this type of thread was exceedingly rare, anywhere. It has evolved to become a general banter thread, with occastonal useful comments and legitimate complaints. Since the thread has outlasted its general usefulness, I prioritize my time accordingly, especially since I am on the mend from serious surgery.

If you have a problem with me, take it up on private. One rule remains sacrosanct, which is that mod or admin gets called out in public. You yell at the bartender, you get kicked out of the bar. I'm going to let this one incident slide, because you' ve always been an okay member and general shit disturber. But don't take this as license.

Also, I am going to change the name of this thread to reflect its new reality. "Member complaint support group" is my idea, but I am open to suggestions.

Like most big sites, we run a cascade of networks, so without specific information, it's nearly impossible to identify the problem. The more info, the more likely I am to be able to get the problem fixed. This could include private info like you exact location and WiFi spot when you saw the ad, especially for mobile. Detailed, private PMS have the highest probability of being useful.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

Also, ads on mobile are in a nascent stage right now, and it's the wild west out here. We do want to clamp down, and have done a.toncrap behind the scenes, but even with useful help, it's like whack-a-mole.

i nominate this guy as a troll. no, i'm not joking.

suggestions.? keep the 8-10 back scratchers in line. instead of giving them false authority.
a popular troll is still a troll.

we join Styleforum because we want to separate ourselves from the rest. -then find a minority trying to enforce uniformity. it kind of defeats the purpose of the site.

say what you want, it's a point, and i'm raising it.
