1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

New background a pain in the bum, squishes everything down way too much.

That seems like a pointless feature here. :rimshot:

Is it possible rather than get email notifications to somehow get text message notifications? I think that would be cool, with links right to the mobile site in the text message.

if you click the "reply" or "see this post" links, in the emails, it also takes you right to the mobile site.

Setting it to full width is a half-ass solution.
If I wanted it full width, I would have already set it that way.

The problem is not specifically how narrow it is, but rather the fact that the Trunk Club ad makes it get more narrow *AFTER* the page has loaded, which on a long thread will completely screw up any sort of link targets.

This is a clear bug...hopefully they are yelling at the Huddler people right now.

Maybe Trunk Club paid a lot for their ad.

That's not the point. The point is it would be cooler to get text notifications as an option as well as email. I can respond to things faster if I get a text message than if it is sitting there waiting until I check email.

Turn on push email? Comes as fast as a text.

Otherwise, sending texts costs money... Emails are free. I used twilio in a program and it is a penny per text... cheap but more expensive than email.

really? with gmail i get emails to my phone just as fast as texts, and more reliably. and i see the preview and sender for both on my lock screen.

i think the real issue here is that some people are texters and others are emailers, and it might be a neat feature for people who more heavily rely on texting for this kind of thing.

pB appears to be in the class of people who check e-mail infrequently but check and respond to texts promptly. In other words, text is his primary communication mode. It's not a technological issue to be solved.

Interesting about the push thing. Whenever I set up push notifications for email it never works. Does it have to be done with the gmail app, or can it work with regular mail on an iPhone?

Also, I'd only like to know about Style Forvm related emails not all of the other nonsense I get emails about… :)

I don't know about iphones, but there are definitely custom notification apps out there for other phones. You can set up your phone to only notify you for an SF email.

Alternatively, you could set up gmail to forward SF emails to another account. Then you could only turn on notifications for that account. Maybe you can set up an SF label and only notify things that have that label too..

Set gmail to automatically forward SF notifications to 2125551212@txt.att.net (replace your number)...

The MMS gateway might work too:
    2125551212@mms.att.net

    If you have verizon, try:
    5552223333@vtext.com

edit: just tried the MMS with a PM notification....it was kinda messy, but it worked. The txt.att.net didn't work very well (email was too long)

thats what i just said.

i hate the apple server. emails never come in right away. i use the gmail app, and emails are received faster than they show up on my computer.

i guess like otc said, you can open up a new gmail account and attach your SF to it and use the gmail app only for that email address. a little work up front, but would solve all these issues for you i think. probably less work than SF setting up text notifications, and you could do it in about 3 - 5 minutes.
