1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Fok on behalf of the entire Styleforum team

It's a crowded field, has been for years. I just joined out of curiosity but, to be honest, I'll sign pretty much anything.

I don't think anyone is jumping ship to join him over there. It's a very small community which has advantages and plenty of disadvantages. Most people are spending time on both as they fill different needs.

In my limited time there (was banned after making zero posts) what I couldn't figure out is what purpose was it trying to serve. It already had most of the most prolific or most-defined personas in the non-clothing realm put into a forum that was ostensibly about clothes but seemed to focus almost exclusively on the non-clothing aspect.

There were a few posts where Rambo was asking essentially what new features were needed to get the site off the ground. As if more bells and whistles were the answer when in fact, as he so often (and frankly annoyingly) pointed out, new features were some of the biggest things that drove people away from SF.

What the forum (both) needs is stronger content--not more toys. And in his quest he explicitly banned SF's best dressed and well versed posters (namely Manton and now me, I suppose). You can't get content when you want to pick and choose who you have in your private fucking clubhouse that you created in an attempt to feel validated/popular and you're certainly not going to have quality when you don't ask the best-of-the-best to join.

I won't disagree but I could see right off the bat that his was never going to be a redoubt for the well-dressed and well-versed of the internet.

Yeah, I mean not to offend anybody, but I don't really care what any, if not all, of his forum' posters have to say about clothes. People whom I listen to post here, thus I come here. I don't really have a lot of time or energy for clubs.

It's the people on SF with the least to say and the most pathetic ways of saying it. Plus Neo. I guess somebody needs that. Just not sure who.

I know that you guys love a good shitfest, but you know what, who cares? If Rambo was unhappy with Styleforum, it's his right to leave and make a new forum. It's not his right to use our system to recruit. And I certainly didn't appreciate his using our system to recruit, while slagging the community the entire time. It was underhanded and lame. Let's just leave the discussion at that, and move onto other thngs, yeah? Thanks.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

for once, Edina did not fail, rather he hit it pretty much on the head. I have a lot to say, but I'm trying to contain it, out of respect both for Rambo and for Trans Mod, which I'm imagining Fok doesn't appreciate turning into the RamboForvm discussion thread.

(which, btw, is why I said above that I wouldn't have banned him)

EDIT: Sorry, I posted before I saw Fok cutting off the discussion, so I'll stop, but since I was posting at the same time, I feel sort of justified in leaving the rest of it up there. Will pull if so desired.

What is the link to Rambo Forum? I want to get in early, so that I can be important there 3-4 years from now.

There's still time to create plenty of sleeper socks to activate once you are banned.
