1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Fok on behalf of the entire Styleforum team

I'm more of a George Costanza here but in real life I'm George Clooney minus the pussy, fame, looks and money.

Don't worry, stitch. As far as j and Fok are concerned I am invisible. It is the only way they can rationalize my still being on teh site.

What do you not understand about DH moderating in a DH thread, you fat fuck? You are obstructing the thread with these personally harassing comments that add nothing to discussion. I warned you in the thread before deleting your comments, and you continued on anyway. After all the time, effort, and money spent, you still have no idea how to dress yourself--I get it. That sucks. But you can still get a fucking life.

I've already notified a forum moderator about your attempts to subvert the thread. You were included in the PM.

I'm hoping that Foo's ad hominem is based on my reference to Teensy-Weensy Petty Tyrant. I can see how that could be misconstrued as a comment about his stature. I meant it only in the sense described here: http://glossary.cassiopaea.com/glossary.php?id=587 I'm not a tall man myself...

Personally, I think this is the way to deal with Foo:

    http://www.styleforum.net/t/341010/...date-new-chambray-arrived/450_30#post_6259032

It was a gang attack, though. So some might not consider it fair. But I think dopey alone delivered a knockout to Foo's recent and long-term posting style -- the negative aspects of it at least.

Regarding Whnay's Good Taste, I'm going to leave Foo's deletions, since I agree with him that it's best to keep the thread on topic. But I'm going to delete a Foo post or two in the Whnay thread as well. Both sides of that discussion have been heard enough -- at least until we get a new crop of graduates posting their new "fits." Which should be a month or two. Then it might be time for some more edumacation. Hopefully by Dopey, Ed, et al.

Exactly how was I "dealt" with? If Dopey thinks the chambray discussion is stupid, he doesn't have to take part in it. If anybody else thinks it's stupid, they don't have to either. But it seems many have found it interesting and engaging. Andre commented that it reminded him of old SF, when we used to talk about this sort of nuanced thing and weren't obsessed with posting "fits." Anyway, I thought I was making a real contribution with this discussion. A lot of forum member money has been spent on Simonnot Godard chambray, and it turns out it's not all quite what it's cracked up to be. So, if talking about shirts and shirtings is no longer what SF is for, then just say so and I'll gladly delete the whole thread. But if that's the case, this place is truly beyond repair. Sue me for coming to that conclusion more reluctantly than others.

Also, what the heck is the point of DH threads and DH moderation of such threads if a non-DH can go to a forum moderator to undo the DH moderation?

I didn't see myself as "dealing" with anything (or anyone). I was simply having a little fun, though I do think the conversation had gotten a bit obsessive to the point where the forest was being lost for the trees. But we all have our own set points on what is interesting and what is trivial minutia. I am happy to poke fun at what I think is silly, just as people are entitled to think my interests or habits are silly and laugh at me. I certainly wasn't trying to shut down a discussion. In fact, while I was joking about having a shirt of third-wave chambray, I did happen to be wearing a shirt of a similar white on color weave, which I thought was an interesting variant and naturally lent itself to some foomedy (and I checked my closet - I have the same weave in chambray blue).

DH thread or not, if someone crosses a line with what they say, a moderator has every right to delete it. no different than any other area of the forum. for example, if a DH in GC were to start a thread, and in it say something over the line and derogatory about someone else, they dont get a free pass. bad behavior is bad behavior, across the forum. so if m thinks something you and SB said aught to be deleted for offensive content, well, that should be that. i think that is pretty fair.

I didn't think you we're intending to "deal" with me, but the forum moderators seem to have their own chosen narrative--and that reflects the direction they want the forum to go in. I guess we're supposed to spend more time in the Luxire thread and discussing merchandise with greater marketability. Otherwise, I can't understand why nuanced (even obsessive) discussion of shirting fabric has to be "dealt" with at all.
