1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

One of your posts was needlessly dickish to a newcomer (i.e. the New England thread) and flagged by another user. I'm not sure about the other one, if I even did it.

Nobody is saying they are. Its the posters in that subfora that are right wingers. They pile on anything that is not part of group think.

We're trying for a more purposeful dickishness to newcomers. For instance, there's this: oh snap *

These giant, full page gloss over Nike ads have got to stop.

collusion + ghostery plug-ins if you're using chrome. I honestly didn't even realize SF had all of these annoying ads until I saw people complaining.

Holy fuck! I just refreshed the front page and I got a full screen pop up for those flexible shoes currently running ads on the front page.

Figured out about the full page pop up thing. It's in the right corner of the page so if you're going to refresh or pull down your history URLs to move to another page, if you do not move your mouse quickly enough, it triggers the full page pop up. I'm impressed at how strategically that ad frame was placed to trigger this without meaning to.

What ads? Must be a North American ip thing then, as I haven't seen a full page ad on sf ever. Using safari no frills.

I've had them in the UK. Pio is right, if you hover over the top banner ad too long (like half a second instead of quarter of a second), a whole page thing pops up. Very annoying.
