1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

I just saw that frenchy was banned again. Thanks to whoever did that. After his very anti-Semitic comments last year I was surprised to see him back.

It was, without a doubt, the most fucktarded justification I have ever seen for enforcing a ban in my life. If he made a new account to circumvent his ban, and then returned to the same abusive misbehavior he was banned for, this would be an absolutely reasonable reaction. Instead, because some poster with sway got butthurt over a stupid conversation about a TV show in which some childish insults were exchanged, the mods "realized this", and now an otherwise excellent contributor is banned and not returning to the site. I don't know if any of you mods ever visit or give two shits about the thrift store bragging thread (you know, one of the largest and most popular threads on this site), but Valium/Frenchy/Frenchytoo was, without a doubt, one of the best (if not THE best) consistent contributor of amazing finds to that thread in recent memory. He added immense value to that thread and to the overall site on balance (even considering his penchant for boorish language), that for the banhammer to be so flagrantly abused by both the mod and the complaining poster over a trivial personal grievance is pathetic and shameful.

Artisan Fan should be given moderator status. He's put in the time and deserves power.

CE is like a flat soft drink without him.

It is odd, but they seem to be polite and on topic.

That actually happens on a pretty regular basis and they often sound very similar. I think there's an odd little fellow somewhere that has been making screen names for years and just activates one from time to time.

I like him, but I am pretty sure he is not being serious.

He is serious. And that's what great about it. He's an honest-to-god educated, intelligent person who is a Communist. It's like finding an Ivory-Billed Woodpecker. I didn't think they existed anymore. It's an interesting viewpoint to read, even if I find it completely ridiculous.

There is not even the slightest chance that he is serious.

I like the fact he made me think about "surplus value" and "socially necessary labour" for the first time in 20 years. I also like how he introduced Mill as someone we had probably not heard of.

Flag the post you find offensive, include an explanation of why, and let a mod sort it out. We can't monitor all the threads.

Is it possible to put someone completely on "ignore" so as to not see where they've posted at all? So far it looks like they only thing you can do is "block" someone so that all their posts show up in the style of being a spoiler. But I'd like to be able to ignore someone altogether. Is that possible?

    Thanks.
